Beech leaf disease threatens trees in New England, Arnold Arboretum

OTHER METHODS OF RESISTANCE to beech leaf disease, albeit less natural ones, are emerging. Two pesticides, potassium phosphite and fluopyram, are proving to protect beech against the disease. When poured into the base of a tree, potassium phosphite can stimulate its ability to protect itself against nematodes. Fluopyram is sprayed onto foliage and kills nematodes directly. It’s highly effective — though it’s not magic.
